Since 1953, the Cardinal Stritch Council #3674 has been involved in numerous ministries, programs, and events to help those in need at St. Joseph. One of our key programs is our Respect Life Fetal Ultrasound initiative.
The Knights of Columbus supports life in all its stages, and established its Ultrasound Initiative. This initiative equips medically certified pro-life pregnancy centers with modern technology that allows expectant mothers to see and hear their babies in utero. Ultrasound technology provides a "window on the womb." Even from the early stages of pregnancy, a mother can see her developing child, hear her baby's heartbeat, and recognize the miracle of the new life within her. These centers don’t just offer technology - they offer hope, compassion, and real help for women facing difficult decisions. Since this initiative began, many women, moved by what they see and supported by loving care, choose to continue their pregnancies after seeing the ultrasound images.
Funds raised by your Cardinal Stritch Council from their various yearly events were recently used to partner with St. Mary of Vernon Knights of Columbus Council in the purchase of an ultrasound machine to be used by Aid for Women in Chicago in their programs that support pregnant women. Additionally, your Knights also partnered with the Holy Family Council of Inverness, IL, to provide a machine for the TLC Pregnancy Center in Elgin. This partnership, which saw half of the $12,500 machine supported by our Cardinal Stritch Council #3674, demonstrates the power of collaboration within our local councils. These donations follow the gift of four other ultrasound machines to various pregnancy centers in the Chicago area, including one that was provided to Fr. Martin's cousin, who runs a women's center in Uganda.
The Cardinal Stritch Council #3674 is proud to support the provision of these essential medical devices and to contribute to life in all its stages.
